December 22, 2010 - James Dixon - Prototype tools for browser-based data visualization

James Dixon, Pentaho CTO, discussed and demoed some new tools he has been working on to help make creating new visualizations easier in Pentaho.

FYI: In the upcoming 4.0 release (SUGAR) for the BI Platform, we are adding more capabilities for extending the platform from both the server and client side. The prototype code presented here is to give the community a chance to try out some of the ideas we have for extending the client side. It is part of the open source "early and often" mantra. The intent is to let people try it out and provide feedback. It overlaps with some of the other initiatives like Andy Grohe's JavaScript API, Community Data Access or Saiku. The goal is to eventually produce a single consistant API and this is just one step along the way.
